MacRumors has confirmed that the A18 chip in Apple's new HomeView smart home hub is paired with 8GB of RAM. This is not very surprising given the A18 chip also has 8GB of RAM in all iPhone 16 models and the MacBook Neo, but Apple does not list this information in the HomeView's tech specs, so it is worth documenting.

Yeah, expected RAM and expected forum comment. You're right. I still like to document it on the record for the sake of completeness.
I mean it's an A18, it's a single configuration chip with 8GB of RAM always. Just like the A19 always has 12GB.
Someone needs to call Director Feng. This is plausible, but in my two seconds of Human Intelligence searching I couldn't find a verified teardown identifying the chip.

That’s not true. Margins are only part of the formula-the main purpose is returning shareholder value and that’s a bottom line thing - you can have narrow margins but a lot higher volume and end up with far more net profit than with fatter margins
The sole purpose of any company is to focus on margins.
Only the A19 pro has 12GB I believe.

But yeah, based on what the Homeview demos (outside of Siri AI) it doesn’t need much RAM.
The 8GB is for the AI.
Take that away it could cope with 4GB easily.
